This project was MultiScalar's submission for the 2019 edition of the festival Luz y Vanguardias, one of Europe's most prominent projection mapping competitions, held since 2016 in Salamanca, Spain. The projection occurred of the facade of the city's Town Hall, located on the Plaza Mayor.
As part of an ongoing study, Orbis explores that which lies beyond physical existence through a narrative of shapes, textures and light. Starting with the image of the building itself and highlighting its elements, the facade is slowly deconstructed and desintegrated, revealing the “space behind”, a metaphor for that which transcends the tangible, a place where real meaning is found. A notion reinforced by the atmospheric and ethereal music.
In this unsubstantial space, the main protagonist is the circle, a shape with extensive meaning throughout human history that symbolizes the infinite, eternity, God, nature, perfection, among many others. It interacts with the the square, a symbol for order, the physical and the man made, creating a sort of dance that illustrates the constant struggle for balance between these two realms. A struggle in which that which goes above the corporeal always prevails.
